Jack Mackerel's Island Seafood

Save

Jack Mackerel’s Island Seafood took over an existing restaurant space that resembled Victorian architecture and did not necessarily fit its tropical island identity. Shook Kelley, however, embraced the building, giving the site a complete facelift and transforming the building into a Key West Victorian space.

The intent was to achieve the casualness of the Caribbean islands. Tropical plants, original Caribbean murals and folk artwork, maps and antique nautical charts became colorful backdrops to a customized proprietary menu of delicious blackened, wood-grilled and island-influenced seafood dishes. Jack Mackerel’s Island Seafood was created to evoke a sense of adventure and fun in a casual atmosphere and capitalize upon a time-stressed, vacation-deprived boomer audience seeking dinner-out solutions.
