March 2005 / AIA Charlotte Design Award Winner
Shook Kelley’s Chiron America project won top honors at the 2004 AIA Charlotte Design Awards Competition in February, held at the College of Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

One of four projects selected out of over 50 entries, Chiron America is the North American corporate headquarters for a German company that makes computerized machines used in the manufacture of precision mass-produced parts. The jury appreciated this large corporate office and manufacturing facility for the clarity of its planning and for the explicit use of architecture as part of the company’s identity.

Shook Kelley’s challenge with this project was to combine industrial, office, showroom and museum space into a 53,487sf building reflective of the Chiron’s European heritage.
